GOVERNANCE

St Kilda Gatehouse is a charity registered with the ACNC, operating in Victoria. Its main activity is in the economic, social and community development sector, working with women involved in street based sex work or young women and girls affected by sexual exploitation. St Kilda Gatehouse provides women with access to the space, support and connections they need to respond to challenges and to cultivate personal strengths aiding recovery and empowerment. Service categories include:

  • Mental health and crisis intervention
  • Other health service delivery
  • Social services
  • Emergency and relief
  • Income support and maintenance
  • Advocacy and civic activities

Our Board

Mark Watt AM

Chair

Mark is the co-founder, former CEO and development director at Whitelion, an organisation providing support, employment and mentoring services to ‘at risk’ young people. He brings experience in providing creative solutions and programs that improve the social and economic capabilities of those at risk.

Ruth Baker

Vice Chair

Ruth was a social worker across a variety of social service programs before becoming a lawyer in 2005. She has specialized in working for individuals who have experienced institutional child abuse, and worked for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Dianne Azoor Hughes

Treasurer

Dianne is a consultant in governance, risk and audit. She brings experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, policy development and business processes.

Amanda Bartley

Secretary

Amanda brings experience in social impact, responsible business and cross sector partnerships. Previous roles include Director Social Impact Consulting and Corporate Responsibility at PWC and Senior Advisor to the Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner. She continues to work independently in these areas. 

Desiree Smit

Board Member

Desiree brings experience in community services in Youth Homelessness, Women’s Justice Services (including Family Violence Programs delivered at the women’s prison) and Out of Home Care. She is currently the Care and Support Services Manager for Baptcare and previously worked with Melbourne City Mission in the homelessness and justice area.

Pauline Richards MP

Board Member

Pauline is an MP in the Victorian State Government. She is an advocate against family violence against women, inequality, addiction, suicide and mental ill-health.
